Welcome back to another video made in the Covid 19 lockdown, trying to keep myself creative and productive during this time. When I was looking to buy my Volkswagen caddy maxi van, I couldn't find many video reviews online from second hand buyers. I therefore wanted to make a short video to hopefully help potential buyers. The ex British Gas caddy maxi van, seems to be the available option for when you look at second hand caddy maxi vans. It has many upgrades to a standard caddy or caddy maxi and therefore makes it a better buy. Here is a video of my VW Caddy Maxi van conversion. In this video I go through the stages of insulating the van, ply lining the van and building a pull out bed. I bought a 2015 ex British gas VW caddy maxi and converted it into a weekend get away camper. I spent a while researching the best methods for the conversion and thought I'd share my process to help others. If you want to convert a van on a budget then this is the video for you. In total I only spent around £300 for the conversion. This video is a combination of 3 separate videos all combined together. I tell you about the issues, faults and problems with the original injectors in the VW 1.6TDI engines. These injectors a known to fail and can be a costly fix. Something to check out when buying a TDI engine typically found in the VW caddy's. The old 3L130277B injector type from the 1.6 TDI CAY engine has a known issue with the piezoelectric actuator, the small capsule on top where the electrical connector is located. The stack of piezoelectric crystals tended to crack/break, reducing its electrical resistance from between 180-210 kiloohms to 5 kohms or less (I measured 4.7 kohm on a faulty injector and 5 ohms on another). Open circuit would also indicate failure. Electrical resistance is not how this works, but measuring it is a reliable way of telling if the stack is mechanically broken or not. In this video I explain how to store your surfboard and bike in a VW caddy Maxi. We had loads of messages about how we store our surfboards and bikes on trips away so we thought it would be best to make a little video. Alongside this I also show you the dimensions of the pull out bed and how this works with storage. As we have just purchased a GoPro 9 we thought we would test it out for this video. However it was super windy and therefore the audio is pretty terrible. The GoPro audio capabilities clearly aren't as good as they claim.... How to guide coming soon but check out our video and products below! We carpet the back of our VW Caddy Maxi with 4 way stretch carpet! We decided after a few months that we would carpet over the ply wood in the back of our van. We thought the plywood looked great and gave the van a nice and simple finish but it always looked a bit half done and not very cosy. We decided that carpeting over the plywood would hopefully fix this problem and make the van feel nicer. We went ahead and bought the carpet off amazon and started fixing it to the walls. At first we forgot that you have to spray both the plywood and the carpet and therefore the wall of carpet didn't stick as well as it should have. Along with this I think we were scared to pull the carpet hard and fully stretch it so we ended up with a few creases. But again this could be because we were sticking the carpet over the thermowarp which wasn't solid. All in all, the carpet has turned out great and has vastly improved the feel of the van! We would definitely recommend carpeting the back of your van if you are currently doing one. Thanks for watching and supporting our videos!
